NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation Helps Tornado Survivors Recover from the Storm
The NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation (formerly Homes4NC), the charitable arm of NC REALTORS®, launched multiple relief efforts for residents whose housing was impacted by the April 15 tornados in Guilford and Rockingham Counties. Coupled with other area REALTOR® response efforts, which includes emergency communications support, supply drives, and cleanup efforts, the NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation is committed to helping residents with immediate housing needs through housing assistance grants.
When Mother Nature Strikes, we do not sit idly by. We act. We roll up our sleeves. We pitch in. We embrace our communities. We give hope.
Recovery starts the moment the skies clear. And when an EF-2 tornado struck the City of Greensboro and Rockingham County on April 15, 2018, more than 1000 buildings were damaged – 199 structurally damaged with 37 of those completely destroyed. Three schools closed for the remainder of the year. There was loss of life. Despite the wrath of Mother Nature, all hope is not lost.
The community came together. The NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation jumped into action – donating supplies, cleaning debris, rebuilding homes, and issuing housing grants, while fulfilling our mission or affordable housing and disaster recovery assistance, so the affected communities can thrive again.
The following video demonstrates the unimaginable impacts eastern Greensboro endured.
