NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation hosts Home Buyer Education Seminar in Spindale
The NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation (NCRHF) in collaboration with the Rutherford Co. Habitat for Humanity hosted a Home Buyer Education Seminar in Rutherford County for first-time home buyers or anyone looking to refresh their knowledge on Saturday, April 6, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Spindale House & Recreation Department, located on 119 Tanner St. in Spindale.
Seasoned real estate experts educated attendees about all aspects of the home-buying process. The presentations were followed by a question-and-answer session with the speakers.
“In 2023, the foundation donated $55,000 to the Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity to complete critical home repairs, and this partnership has expanded to include home buyer educational seminars that are free and accessible to the public,” said Kentia Smith, NCRHF director. “Our foundation’s mission is to provide affordable and accessible housing opportunities to North Carolinians, and educational seminars like this one are one of the many ways we work towards achieving that mission.”
Speakers included:
- Kim Freeman, Executive Director, Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity
- Nicole Dubs, TD Bank
- Carla Hanes, Cleveland County Community Development Corporation
“These workshops are important to share financial information with individuals who are all at different stages of the homebuyer process,” said Kim Freeman, executive director of Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity. “We will provide different loan options for low to moderate income levels as well conventional loans. There will also be resources available for those that may need budgeting and credit repair counseling. So many people are not aware of the options that are available to them, and these workshops will educate local residents on ways to become future homeowners.”
“Everyone deserves to have a safe, affordable house, they can call home,” said Nicole Dubs, TD Bank representative. “When we partner with organizations like Habitat for Humanity to provide individuals with the resources needed to become homeowners, we are truly making a difference in the communities we serve.”
Event sponsors included TD Bank, Cleveland County Association of REALTORS®, North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, Rutherford County Habitat for Humanity, Cleveland County Community Development Corporation, Foothills REALTOR® Association of NC and Foothills Regional Commission.
