Foundation Supports Housing During COVID-19

On June 2, 2020, NC REALTORS® and the NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation announced a contribution of $200,000 to the North Carolina Housing Coalition in support of their work to assist those in need of mortgage and rental relief assistance as a result of COVID-19.

“NC REALTORS® and our Housing Foundation are proud to support this essential effort,” said Maren Brisson-Kuester, 2020 NC REALTORS® president. “Now, more than ever, it is important to assist people in our communities to be able to remain in their homes. Access to housing is a core value of our organizations and a vital part of our lives.”

The Coalition, through its network of 20 housing counseling agencies, will use these funds to provide 200 affected families with a one-time payment of up to $1,000 for their rent or mortgage.

The NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation initiated the response with a $100,000 contribution to these efforts. NC REALTORS® followed with a matching $100,000 contribution. Both organizations have a rich history of responding to housing-related concerns in North Carolina and aiding deserving homeowners who have experienced the loss of their primary home.

“We are so happy to make this investment in housing for people across our state who have been negatively affected by COVID-19,” said Kelly Ross-Benton, 2020 NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation president. “We can’t wait to see all the good that they are able to do across our state.”

“The Housing Coalition is grateful to have partners who are willing and enthusiastic to devote significant resources to the immediate and overwhelming need faced by so many North Carolinians during this unprecedented time,” added Samuel Gunter, the Coalition’s Executive Director.
