Workforce Housing Program Overview

As of June 1, 2024, the Workforce Housing Specialist program will cease to be accessible. We express gratitude to all members who pursued this certification, advancing their dedication to housing in North Carolina.

For those who are currently working on their certification, the application will remain open until June 1, 2024.

This program is limited to NC REALTORS® members. If REALTOR® members of another state association want to take advantage of Work Force Housing Program benefits for their North Carolina clients, they may join NC REALTORS® as a secondary member.

How We Help Homebuyers

Home – for most of us, it’s the center of our lives. But for many hardworking families, the American Dream of homeownership is out of reach because they don’t earn enough to afford an average-priced home in their community. Our programs focus on those critical workers who don’t earn enough to afford the average-priced home in the community they serve.

That’s where NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation comes in. We bridge this gap with educational programs, housing resources, and downpayment assistance that help more North Carolinians affordably purchase a home of their own. If you’re looking for help to become a homeowner or for someone to point you in the right direction, you’ve come to the right place.

How We Help REALTORS®

As a REALTOR®, you understand the challenges that many individuals and families face when it comes to affording median-priced homes in the community where they work. When workers can live in these communities, the community benefits from a higher quality of life.

If you’re looking to make a lasting difference in your community, NC REALTORS® Housing Foundation certifies REALTORS® as Workforce Housing Specialists so that these real estate professionals can better understand the important issues and economic barriers facing those entering the housing market.

The NC WHS credential is awarded and recognized by NC REALTORS® as a state-certification and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the National Association of REALTORS®
